But I couldn't always tell the difference between whiskeys. But a life changing trip to Ireland, showed me a special way of tasting whiskey, where you actually learn to taste the different flavors. Since then, every distillery and tasting I go to, I feel what they're talking about, and taste more each time. After years more of trips to Ireland, Scotland and Bourbon Country, I've merged the best tips for beginners into my custom program to unlock the flavors for anyone.

I host tastings and events in Nashville, Tennessee and every time my guests eyes light up as they realize they can taste more than ever before. Can't I learn all of this on Youtube?

YouTube is great for learning a lot of things, and plenty of types of entertainment, but honestly it's not that good at this right now. Most content is more in the style of encyclopedia, not entertainment or engaging with your senses. If you find something you love, I'd be thrilled if you let me know. I'll use it to improve my program. Really the best way is to travel and spend time at several distilleries and nationally funded whiskey museums. After going through all the sessions in this program most of the things you find on YouTube will be more enjoyable than they were before, but that's the right order.

Wouldn't it be better to visit a distillery?

Distilleries are great, and you absolutely should go to as many as you can. I don't want to discourage anyone from that. You're going to get a single piece of the story though, so this program will give you a broader starting knowledge. The main thing really is that distilleries, rightly so, are assuming everyone in the tour is a whiskey drinker. You see the aunt or cousin dumping the whiskey sample, and just being a good sport for the rest of the family. Irish Spirit Socials is designed to be a social party where those people are just as engaged as everyone else. That's usually the goal when doing an event at home. Especially holiday parties where we're trying to get everyone to connect more, even when there's age gaps or cliques of people with different lifestyles and hobbies.

Do I need an expensive whiskey collection to use this?

You will need to provide the whiskey for the night, but if you're interested in Irish whiskey, there's a good chance you already have what you need. Since there's several extra modules you can swap out, that expands the possibilities of bottles that will work. You don't need to have the bottles for every topic, just half of them will cover you for the night. If you only have Scotch, Bourbon or Japanese whiskey, the included guide will help you find some Irish whiskeys commonly available in stores and at various price points to make sense for. you goals.
